SGM. Johnny L. Wilson, Ret.

SGM. Johnny L. Wilson, Ret., age 66, of Glenwood, died Monday, November 18, 2013. He was born on December 5, 1946 at Amity, the son of Gordon Lee Wilson and Clara Bee Franks Wilson. On March 29, 1968, he was married to Sherry Horn. He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven siblings, Clara Lee Wilson, Betty Lynn Wilson, Wanda Marie Wilson, Archie Odell Wilson, Shirley Ann Hammock, Wayne Wilson and Leota Stovall. Retired from the United States Army, he was active in the 472nd Military Police reunion committee and the 4154th United States Army Reserve family support group. He was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was retired from Bean Lumber Company. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Wilson of Glenwood; two sons, Kris Wilson and his wife, Tonia, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Nickolas Zane Wilson and his partner, Greg Fairchild, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Cheyenne and Reese Wilson; three siblings, Carolyn Reynolds of Commerce, Texas, Robby Wilson of Amity and Velma Plyler of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2013 in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Shewbart and Bro. Harold Turner officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors will be in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Ryan Horn, P. J. Horn, Eric Diggs, Chad Wells, Ronnie Lee Wilson, Anthony Plyler, Tommy Wright and Mark Plyler. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 315, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
