Scott Kevin Greathouse

February 8, 1959 — January 30, 2014

Scott passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2014 due to complications of diabetes. He was born February 8, 1959 in Iowa City, Iowa to Paul Jerry and Harlean Kuhse Greathouse. Scott has resided in Hot Springs, Arkansas since 1972. He graduated from Mountain Pine High School and immediately joined the United States Air Force. Scott worked hard at everything he did. He was a "jack of all trades". He enjoyed working at St. Joseph's Hospital in the housekeeping and maintenance departments for several years; he took pride in having his own lawn care and landscaping business for many years; he worked with small engines and anything related to electronicshe loved tearing things apart and putting them back together again. He also worked for Little Produce as a delivery driver. Scott was always hoping to "hit it big" by playing the lottery, scratching those tickets, and betting the odds at Oaklawn Race Track. Scott was proudly acquiring his college degree in Business at the time of his death. Scott married Debbie Hurst; later divorced. Together, they have one daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" J. Greathouse Foster. Scott married Teressa Scoggin; later divorced. Together, they have one son, Mitchell Greathouse. They were also blessed with Teressa's daughter, Rebecca "Becca". Scott proudly raised her as one of his own. Scott is survived by his parents, Paul Jerry and Harlean Greathouse of Hot Springs, AR; brother, Steve (Nena) Greathouse of Licking, MO; sister, Robin (Frank) Anderson of Layton, UT; daughter, Beth (Clint) Foster of Royal, AR; son, Mitchell Greathouse of Hot Springs, AR; step-daughter, Rebecca "Becca" (Mike) Foshee of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren, Kara E. Kerschl, Maddox Greathouse, Tyler and Alex Sullivan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. Preceded in death by his former spouse and best friend, Teressa; and grandparents, Harlan Kuhse, Bernice Kuhse and Nellie Greathouse. A heartfelt thank you and deep gratitude is expressed to Becca. "Thank you so much for spending each and every day at your Dad's side during his hospitalization. The love, comfort and care you gave will always be treasured. Thank you!" The family would also like to express their appreciation to the staff at Mercy Hospital and to Dr. Martin Koehn and the nurses from the Arkansas Hospice Team on the 5th Floor for their careespecially to Teri (Scott's night nurse). "Thank you, Teri, for always keeping Scott comfortable and handsome!" Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for your extraordinary care. To honor Scott's wishes, he was cremated respectfully by Davis-Smith Funeral Home. Scott did not want any "fuss"; therefore, no formal services will be held. His family will have a private celebration in the Spring of 2014. Although Scott left us much too soon, we are comforted by the memories, laughter and reflections that we all share in our lives now because of him. He will be missed by all who knew him. Please share a hug or expression of love with someone in your life in memory of Scott. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
