Shirley Ann Trantham

February 14, 1947 — November 13, 2020

Shirley Ann Trantham, age 73, of Royal, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020.

Shirley was born on February 14, 1947, in Glendale, Arizona, the daughter of Elmer and Mary Franzmeier. On September 6, 2002, while on an Alaskan cruise, she married the love of her life, Tommy Trantham. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Shirley was an Episcopalian in her faith. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville where she was a member Zeta Tau Alpha. Shirley was a registered dietitian in Arkansas and California for over 20 years. She then worked in the restaurant business in Arizona for over 10 years.

She loved to cook for others and was excellent at it. She loved traveling, especially going on cruises with Tommy. She loved eating chocolate, drinking coffee, and the color pink. She never met a stranger and always made those around her feel welcomed and loved. She was a big fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and she called those Hogs proudly! Shirley loved living on the houseboat with Tommy and has been a smiling face at Crystal Springs since coming back to Arkansas in the late 1990’s. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who called her “Ma”.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Trantham of Royal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Shane Harris of Mount Ida and Suzanne and Donny Kindt of Pearcy; two step-daughters, Angie Trantham of Hot Springs and Terri Trantham of Royal; six grandchildren, Wylyn Harris, Charter Harris, Cooper Kindt, Porter Kindt, Whit Janske and Alexi Alan “Kiki” Janske; her brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” and Andrea Franzmeier of Fayetteville; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
