Shirley Faye Whisenant

May 28, 1943 — December 16, 2021

Shirley Faye Whisenant, age 78, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

She was born on May 28, 1943, in Little Rock, the daughter of Deadle Newton Thrash and Edna Faye Dean Thrash. On January 12, 1984, she was married to Max Whisenant who preceded her in death on February 3, 2016.

Since the age of twelve, Shirley had been an active member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church. She loved music, played the piano and was always involved with the church choir. She and her dad, Deadle, along with Sid and Marietta Baldwin, comprised the Caddo Quartet. The quartet sang at many area churches, city and county functions. Shirley was very involved in her daughter’s dance studio, Shannon’s School of Dance. All of the children who came to the school felt like her family and she loved them all.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Faye and David Hale, her grandson, Cory Hale; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lauren Faye and Eric Parsons; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia Faye “Millie” Parsons, all of Glenwood.

Due to the current COVID situation, private services will be held. The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers and support they have felt during this time, and they extend their love to each of you.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Memorials may be made to the Glenwood Christian School, PO Box 954, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
