Sybal N. Whisenhunt Davis

Sybal N. Whisenhunt Davis, age 89, of Langley, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015. She was born on January 1, 1926, in a logging camp near Sims, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Robert Alex Whisenhunt and Nellie C. Lawless Whisenhunt. On January 24, 1945, she was married to Coy L. "Hayes" Davis who preceded her in death on April 10, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Diane Gentry; her parents; one brother, Lou Whisenhunt; and two sisters, Rachel Raines and Betty Jones. She was a faithful member of the Daisy Free Will Baptist Church for many years. She always loved cooking and feeding family and friends every chance she got. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden and especially working her cows. She dearly loved her family and they truly loved her back. She is survived by her two sons, Mike Davis and his wife, Donna, of Siloam Springs and Sam Davis of Nashville, Tennessee; one daughter, Donna Golden and her husband, Troy, of Langley; six grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Liza Gentry, Tim Gentry, Amy and Jerry Bailey, Alyson and Jaren Books, Samantha and Jason Olinghouse and Matthew Davis; ten great-grandchildren, Rayce Bailey, Dawson Bailey, Jenna Bailey, Mayah Gentry, Micah Gentry, Max Davis, Tim Olinghouse, Katelyn Olinghouse, Haley Olinghouse and Hayden Olinghouse; two sisters, Imogene Mack of Athens and Joyce Parker of Langley; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Kevin Jewell officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be John Whisenhunt, David Whisenhunt, Doug Sinks, Jerry Bailey, Rayce Bailey and Dawson Bailey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Harvest Free Will Baptist Child Care Ministries, P.O. Box 259, Duffield, Virginia, 24244-9901 or at www.harvestccm.org.
