Sybil E. Doster

Sybil E. Doster, age 80, of Amity, died Sunday, October 27, 2013. She was born on August 22, 1933 at Amity, the daughter of Ernest Garner and Beulah Franklin Garner Baggett. On September 24, 1951, she was married to Leonard Doster who preceded her in death on November 9, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Alvin Garner and Johnny Baggett. She was Baptist in her faith and was active with the Amity Chamber of Commerce where she was involved with the Angel Tree project. Sybil was passionate about playing bluegrass and gospel music and was a member of the Arkansas Bluegrass Music Association. She played in several bands throughout her lifetime, most recently The Tribe and Lasting Impressions. She enjoyed traveling to other states performing on stages at various music festivals. In her free time, Sybil enjoyed piecing and finishing quilts, as well as, sewing for her family and friends; many of which were recipients of her great southern cooking. Other hobbies included playing cards and dominoes and traveling to Branson. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Gary and Brenda Doster and Trudy and Mark Humphries, all of Amity; five grandchildren, Laura Taylor of Alpine, Robert Doster of Alpine, Bucky Martin of Seven Points, Texas, Markett Humphries of Jacksonville and Cory Humphries of Magnet Cove; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Freda Ward Daniels of Amity, Bonnie Davidson of Amity and Mildred Johnson of Arkadelphia; and her special friend, George Rice of Amity. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Archie "Chiefer" Phillips officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dale Richardson, Roy Lee O'Neal, Brandon Davidson, Joel Davidson, Ritchie Richardson and Bruce Doster. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
