Thelma Faye Mitchell

July 14, 1936 — December 6, 2014

Thelma Faye Mitchell, age 78, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014. She was born on July 14, 1936, in Rosboro, the daughter of Lee Roy Kizer and Zona Minnie Arizona Spears Kizer. On March 27, 1954, she was married to Winford Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Doyle Kizer. She was a member of the Glenwood First Assembly of God Church, and for several years was a babysitter to many children, who to this day still love her for the wonderful care she gave them. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, had a love for all animals, even the strays that would find their way to her home, and was an avid quilter, having made many beautiful quilts over the years. Thelma was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and dearly loved each and every member of her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy of love for her family will live on in each of their hearts forever. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Winford Mitchell of Glenwood; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kennith Mitchell and Wayne Mitchell, both of Glenwood and David and Rita Mitchell of Mount Ida; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Amity, Carol and Tommy Tweedle of Hopper, Teresa Porter, Gail and Dean O'Neal and Margaret and Mark Laster, all of Glenwood; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Edna Kizer of Dierks; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy Drye, Alline and Archie Parker and Pearlie Vandergrift, all of Amity and Sharon and Rick Brewer of Glenwood; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. It was Thelma's wish that there would be no formal services. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
