Vennis Reid Parker

Vennis Reid Parker, age 92, of Lodi, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2014. She was born on February 1, 1922 at Newhope, the daughter of Millard Reid and Ova Alford Reid. On June 8, 1940, she was married to Hursel Parker who preceded her in death on November 15, 2009. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Rudolph Reid, George Reid, Travis Reid and Shelby Reid; and her sister, Yvonne Shipman. She was a member of the Lodi Free Will Baptist Church where she was involved at the local and district level with the Women Active for Christ for many years. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Derry and Gail Parker of Lodi and Ron and Elaine Parker of Shreveport, Louisiana; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Janet Parker of Waterford, California, Tina and John Wilkes of Daisy, Terri and Loyd Frost of Danville, Sandie Crosson of Shreveport, Louisiana, Michelle and Todd Cowell of Ruston, Louisiana and Robert and Angela Parker of Shreveport, Louisiana; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Reid of Kirby and Glen Reid of Glenwood; three sisters, Rachel Moore of Glen Rose, Martha Westfall and Sheryl Welch, both of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Derry Parker, Bro. Ron Parker and Bro. Joe Short officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Lodi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pierce Parker, Robert Parker, Todd Cowell, Loyd Frost, John Wilke, Jeff Parker, Johnathon Parker, Dakota Long and Zane Frost. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
