Verna Fay Palmer

December 29, 1945 — July 5, 2015

Verna Fay Palmer, age 69, of Glenwood, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2015. She was born on December 29, 1945 at Vicksburg, Mississippi, the daughter of Vernon James Cessor and Rosia Lee Swayze Cessor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Marilyn Ann Palmer; and her grandson, Christopher Clinton Palmer. She was a Christian in faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. She adored and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always sacrificing to put their needs before her own. She never met a stranger and once she got to know someone they became a friend for life. She genuinely enjoyed life, always looking at it in the happiest way and had the most special and unique laugh that will be remembered by all who knew her. For her special kindness shown everyone, she was honored with being named the Resident of the Year at the Glenwood Nursing and Rehab. She had a passion for working outdoors, tending to her beautiful yard, reading, and was very proud to have achieved her black belt in Taekwondo. She truly was a wonderful person, deeply loved by her family and will be missed by all. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Clint and Angie Palmer of Amity, Sheila and Sam Talbert of Benton, Cheryl and Tim Baker of Glenwood, Laura and Trent Cox of Murfreesboro and Amanda and Drew Allen of Benton; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy Cessor of Malvern, Bill Almond of Hot Springs and Danny Almond of Washington State; and three sisters, Rose Ann Butler of Hot Springs, Connie Bowen of Malvern and Carolyn Dawson of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2015, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Bob Wiyott and Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery at Amity. Pallbearers will be Sid Siegfried, Hunter McGough, Scottie Wyatt, Casey Bowser, Jason Purifoy and Lennon Main. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jones Cemetery Association Fund, c/o Dora Lee Bean, 316 N. Hill Street, Amity, Arkansas, 71921. The family wishes to thank the nurses, CNAs and staff of the Glenwood Nursing and Rehab and Hospice Home Care for all their wonderful and loving care given. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
