Wayne Davis

Wayne Davis, age 79, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

He was born on June 24, 1942, in Wenatchee, Washington, the son of Cohen Durah Davis and Sevella Marie Pate Davis. On October 8, 1961, he was married to Barbara “Bobbie” Featherston Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, David Davis, Randy Davis, Nebo Davis and Roger Davis.

Joel Wayne Davis loved the Lord and was a member of Trinity Holiness Church. It was said he had one hobby, work. He began working at a young age in the family sawmill. Through the years, he was a logger, chicken farmer and owned and operated the DX service station, Davis Lumber and Supply and Davis Portable Buildings. He also enjoyed making a good trade. To his family, he was “The Best Dad in the World.”

He is survived by his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Davis of Glenwood; two daughters, Melanie Lee and her husband, Johnny Don, of Hobbs, New Mexico and Marcia Perry of Glenwood; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Alicia and Vincent Lee, Tanya and Derrick Boutwell, Todd and Christina Lee, Don and Melissa Lee, Amber Lee, Misti Smith, Monica Perry and Michael Perry; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Carlene Davis of DeQueen, C. J. and Judy Davis of Umpire and J. D. and Joann Davis of Eunice, New Mexico; five sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Don Welch of Glenwood, Gloria and Tony White of Grand Prairie, Texas, Brenda and Danny McGrew of Glenwood, Lonetta and Harmon Counts of Oden and Otessa and Jimmy Little of Athens; his sister-in-law, Anita Love of Glenwood; his brother-in-law and his wife, Kenneth and Linda Featherston of Somersworth, New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in the Trinity Holiness Church with Bro. Sammy Cottrell, Bro. Johnny Don Lee, Bro. Sam Anderson and Bro. Gerald Anderson officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Todd Lee, Don Lee, Shane Perry, Michael Perry, Derrick Boutwell and Vincent Lee.

Junior pallbearers will be his great-grandsons.
