Winnie L. Griffith

Winnie L. Griffith, age 101, of Amity, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. She was born on October 12, 1913, in Point Cedar, the daughter of George Berry Lambert and Sarah Francis Hammock Lambert. On October 10, 1931, she was married to Herman A. Griffith, who preceded her in death on November 26, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Richard Griffith and Eulis Griffith; one son-in-law, James Olen Lambert; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Griffith; one sister, Hazel Ross; and four brothers, Jasper Lambert, Franklin Lambert, William Lambert and Hobson Lambert. Winnie and Herman spent many happy years raising their eight children on the lake, wearing out several camper trailers, tents, and sleeping bags, making countless treasured memories. She was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ; enjoyed working in her garden and beautiful flower beds; and was an avid and gifted quilter. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Ruth and Jack Vincent of Oden, Edith Lambert of Amity, G. A. and Theresa Griffith of Greenwood, Bonnie and Larry Barnett of Batesville, Troy and Jan Griffith of Enola and Vivian Griffith of Evening Shade; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; twenty-nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Thurman Lambert of Bismarck; two sisters, Lola Lambert of Amity and Virgie Johnson of Crescent City, California; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 14, 2015, in the Sweet Home Methodist Church with Bro. Rick Collie officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Sweet Home Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be her granddaughters. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
