Fannie Marie Woodall Dunlap

December 17, 1915 — September 28, 2011

Fannie Marie Woodall Dunlap, age 95, of Kirby, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011. She was born on December 17, 1915, in the Valley Grove community near Kirby, the daughter of Arthur Newton Woodall and Clara Kennedy Woodall. On December 7, 1934, she married the love of her life, Ernie Dunlap, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Hershell Fant. After marriage, she and Ernie attended the University of Arkansas before they purchased the general store in Kirby. In 1939, Dunlap Store became a tradition that would continue the next 50 years. Fannie and Ernie built a prosperous business that would be the hub of activity in Kirby. People from all over the state knew of "The All in One Store" because of the uniqueness, its ice cream and the wonderful meat selections. "Service to the community" was the creed by which they lived. Through the years, they worked side by side; one could never be whole without the other. A role model for mothers, Fannie was everything to her children and grandchildren; never judgmental, but always supportive. Fannie was a member of the Kirby Church of Christ. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Janelle Fant of Kirby and Linda Gail and John Austin of Baker City, Oregon; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Janet Fant of Kirby, Nita Fant of Kirby, Craig and Cheryl Austin of Wilsonville, Oregon, Tim and Leslie Austin of Nampa, Idaho and Jennifer Watkins of Baker City, Oregon; seven great-grandchildren, Brianna Young Branch and her husband, Shane, of Murfreesboro, Hunter Fant of Kirby, Aspen Fant Reid and her husband, Ryan, of Newhope, Luke and Lily Austin of Nampa, Idaho, and Ali and Cole Austin of Wilsonville, Oregon; two great-great-grandchildren, Casey O'Neal and Lainy Alexander of Murfreesboro; her sister-in-law, Madeline Dunlap of Kirby; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2011, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Chapel in Glenwood with Bill Golden and Buddy Ray officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Valley Grove Cemetery near Kirby. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
