Ian Jaye Riley Smith

Ian Jaye Riley Smith, age 25, of Kirby died Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He was born on August 2, 1988 at Hot Springs, the son of Ricky Jaye Smith and Theresa Michele "Shelly" Carr Smith. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Dawson Grant Markham; his paternal grandparents, J. C. Smith and Opal Marie Bradshaw; and his maternal grandparents, Bobby Carl and Murel Carr. Ian was a 2007 graduate of Kirby High School where he played basketball and baseball for the Trojans. In 2011 he received his associate degrees from National Park Community College in the arts and sciences. He was a pre-med major at Henderson State University and a member of the Chalybeate Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Ian played the guitar, was an excellent Guitar Hero player and an avid Razorback fan. Music was his passion and he cherished his dogs, Mozart and Otis. He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his parents, Ricky and Felicia Smith and Shelly and Jim Craft, all of Kirby; his sister and brother-in-law, Mandy and Shane Markham, his nephews, Skylar, Dallin and Sawyer Markham, all of Kirby; his stepbrothers, James Everett Craft II of Picayune, Mississippi, David Robert Hearn of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Phillip Ryan Hearn of Homer, Louisiana; his stepsister, Janice Marie Driggers of Glenwood; several aunts, uncles and many cousins. Services will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 10, 2013, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Melvin Markham and Bro. James Owens officiating. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Skylar Markham, Kyle Crawford, Shawn Lambert, Derek Woodall, Jonathan Pounds, Andy Reynolds, Jackie White and Michael Homan.
