Roy Short

Roy Short, age 84, of Amity, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He was born on July 25, 1929, at Amity, the son of David F. Short and Mary Jane Pettigrew Short. On August 11, 1955, he was married to Betty Caldwell. He was a retired coach and teacher with the Amity Public Schools, was also retired from the Corp of Engineers and Baptist in his faith. He is survived by his wife, Betty Short of Amity; his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Phillip Raines of Glenwood; his grandson, Dustin Raines of Glenwood; his twin brother, Ralph Short of Imperial Beach, California; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 26, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Billy Thomason officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Webb, Wayne Wheeler, Ted Woodson, Curt Hays, Jimmy Angel, Bradley Massey, Tut Walker and Randy Sorrells. Honorary pallbearers will be Leamon Dorsey, Loy Buck and Bobby Love.
